Existing Work

The following two papers are here for the purpose of showcasing my writing skills. In any professional capacity, the ability to write well is integral. Hopefully, by examining these works you will obtain a better idea at the level and caliber of my writing capabilities.

The first link is to my political science senior thesis that focused on the George Bush administration and the utilization of nationalism and patriotism to justify international policy. The paper was titled "Nationalism and Patriotism: George Bush and the Great Deceit." The paper consisted of examining public addresses such as Bush's State of the Union speeches and hoped to illustrate the administration use of the rally-around-the-flag effect that followed the September 11 attack.

This second work is the first draft of my history senior thesis that aimed to examine the position of the woman within the black family during slavery. The paper is currently titled "Understated and Prevailing: The Role of the Woman in the Black Family during Slavery." The research is aimed to illustrate the transformation of the black family into matriarchies due to the conditions set forth by slavery. The topic is of tremendous interest to me as I have studied the subject matter since taking a history course my freshman year titled the "History of the African American Woman." This is a work in progress but contains a tremendous amount of research as well as topic that I am very passionate about.
