Research

In the Summer of 2008, I participated in the Mentored Undergraduate Summer Experience at The College of New Jersey. The program consisted of an eight week research period wherein I worked with Dr. William Ball, the Chair of the Political Science, on the topic of Deliberative Democracy. The study focused on climate change within the context of Deliberative Democracy. Deliberative Democracy is a field of political thought and practice that grows from public deliberation on policy issues.
The research began in a deliberative forum on climate change that involved about 100 residents from Mercer County and networking fair that featured over 15 organizations ranging from grass root movements to state wide departments. Moreover, the research culminated with the creation of green31.net, a networking website that holds a comprehensive community calendar that informs and connects people with local organizations and leaders within their community.

The research was presented at the 5th annual Northeast Campus Sustainability Consortium Conference at Princeton University. The presentation was titled “Changing the Climate on Climate Change: A Holistic Approach to Creating Community Around Sustainability.” Bellow you'll find a link the presentation that was given in the conference as well as picture of me presenting a slide on some of the data we compiled.
